“Life is a beautiful game” – story & lyrics :)

September 6, 2009 § Leave a comment

Hello all,

I just uploaded another song called “Life is a beautiful game”. Again, arrangement by Manu Joulia, lyrics&tune by myself.

I could say that it is the “quickest” song I’ve ever made, regarding the time it took to make it become a recorded song from the day it was born. Just about two months old… The idea came to me in June and it became a full-flesh song within some weeks. AND it is the first song I actually wrote here in France. I think. Well, the first full song. I still have some half-created ideas and lots of blurbs otherwise.

Anyway… One night I was walking home, alone in the strange streets, without a map really and at some point without any idea which direction to take. So I just walked and turned in some places I felt I should turn.

It was kinda scary but in a funny way I felt secure. Like if I was in a safe place, world was protecting me and letting only good things to happen. I encountered some other humans out late and asked for the direction, and my direction was right and I made it home.

And there are many mornings when I wake up and feel really grateful for everything that has happened to me lately. I like to lay and watch the sunspots on the walls and in the ceiling and just feel it: anything is possible.

I want to keep my thoughts pure and light and keep my body healthy and happy and find something good in everything, even in the saddest things in this world. I want to learn and understand.

Anyway, I am in this world for just a short time. About hundred years all together – estimated – feels awfully short to me. I am afraid a human is not able to learn within a hundred years everything that I would like to learn…

But even for that short while, I want to enjoy the game :)

And this song is dedicated to all people who believe in the power of dreams. Make your dreams come true. It’s only you yourself who can know exactly what you want and nobody else is going to do the dreaming part for you.

~
this morning i woke up

and i felt it for real
how dreams come true
even those that we wish to fade

you were told a story
of how your life would go
but you don’t know – it can change
‘coz life  is a beautiful game

watch out what you’re dreaming about
i say: watch out
watch out what you’re dreaming about
‘coz life is a beautiful
life is a beautiful game

i always find my way
and my dreams come true
no matter what i say
i see my skies in blue

watch out what you’re dreaming about
i say: watch out
watch out what you’re dreaming about
‘coz life is a beautiful
life is a beautiful game

and when you take it all away
i really won’t cry
‘coz in the end we’re just all the same
life is a beautiful game

watch out what you’re dreaming about…

Liblikad & Kokko lenti

August 30, 2009 § Leave a comment

Announcing 2 new demos today: “Liblikad” and “Kokko lenti”, both arranged by Manu Joulia.

It has been really great to work with Manu and I am super happy that two of the songs are more or less demo-ready now. :) [jumping up and down and running across the yard]

We had some pretty crazy and cool ideas together. Especially for “Kokko lenti” which has changed from a traditional runo song to something completely new.

***

“Liblikad” (“Butterflies”) is a story about …eem… spring. Remember the feeling of butterflies in your stomach? That’s what it speaks about ;)

mu kõhus on kõdi
seal lendavad liblikad ringi
täna hommikust peale
on nad teinud tuhatkond ringi

tahan olla
olla sinu lähedal
ja sind tunda
tunda veidi lähemalt

sa sosistad mu kõrva meeletusi
ja päike on hell ja soe
ja me jookseme mööda kevadet
ja valgus põue poeb

tahan olla
olla sinu lähedal
ja sind tunda
tunda päris lähedalt

su hingeõhk mu põske paitab
ja su sõrmede kindel tee
leiab yles mu salarajad
hoia mind veel ja veel

tahan olla
olla sinu lähedal
ja sind tunda
tunda väga lähedalt…

***

“Kokko lenti” is an old Finno-Ugric runo song of karelian origin. The language is close to Finnish and Estonian, but is still a different language :) This song speaks about a boy who goes to propose to the most beautiful girl of the village and is waiting for her to get ready – get dressed and braided.

Kokko lenti koilta ilmoin
koilta ilmoin, alta taivoin
šiivet muataki, šiveli
koprat mertä kuopuali
liitelekši, luotelekši,
kaččelekši, kiäntelekši.

Liiti linnan ikkunalla
šeinällä nenäšulka
šatašulka šalvokšella.

Mišta tiesit tulla moini,
kuulit, kultani omena
tämän neijon šyntyjäkši
šyntyjäkši, kašvajakši
ilmoilla ylenijäkši?

Noki nousi nuorašešti,
savu pakšušti pakeni
neijon kuulusan kojista.

Mäkätti kevät karičča:
Vuotit viikon, vuota vielä
Pole valmis valvattimeš
Valmis valvatettavaš
Vašta on käsi hiemotettu
toini hiemoteltavana
Vuotit viikon, vuota vielä
vašta on jalka kenkitetty
toini kenkiteltavana
Vuotit viikon, vuota vielä
puoli on piätä palmikolla
toini  palmikoitavana
Vuotit viikon, vuota vielä
Nyt on valmis valvattimeš
Valmis valvatettavaš.

Pois pojat ulos urohot
Pihalla pitimmät miehet

Cry – video & lyrics

July 15, 2009 § Leave a comment

2 and a half years ago I posted the lyrics here on Myspace. It is time to repeat them with the video :)

Today, I was (finally!) playing around with my teenie-weenie Canon that enables some video recording.. and the quality is not bad at all! So I recorded some songs and posted them to Youtube. Looks kinda indie, though.

This is the video:

Cry

every time I cry when I see something beautiful
and all I’ve ever been asking
for you could also see
it would be fine for me

every time I cry when I feel something beautiful
and all I’ve ever been asking
for you could also feel
it would be fine for me

every time I cry when I need something beautiful
and all I’ve ever been asking
is someone who would need me
I’d love it you to be

every time I cry when I read something beautiful
and all I’ve ever been asking
is someone who would write to me
I’d love it you to be

every time I cry when I loose something beautiful
it’s all I’ve ever been asking
that you should never loose
the way I feel for you

***

Written back in 2000 or 2001, I cannot remember the reason. Probably there was someone to inspire, but…um… anyway, they’d never know in the first place and… it is just a nice song in general. I hope I won’t make you cry too much… :P

Sipelgad (The Ants) – my first studio track available for listening now :)

Hello everybody!

From today, you can listen and comment my first studio track called “Sipelgad”. (The Ants). Lyrics written by poet Timo Maran, production by Timo Vendt.

lävepakul leidub sipelgaid
õuemuru kasvab külateeni
kaugemal on kummalisi maid
räägitakse erinevaid keeli

lävepakul leidub sipelgaid

vahel surnuid, vahel elavaid
keeli, milles öelda mitut moodi
võimalik on sõnu kõlavaid
millest mõned võõrsilt laenuks toodi

lävepakul leidub sipelgaid

vahel väikseid, vahel suuremaid
ajal on ju omad teed ja käänud
paljud keeled unustatud said
mõned väiksed siiski alles jäänud

lävepakul leidub sipelgaid

~ free translation ~ explanation ~

there are ants on the doorstep
grass growing up to the village road
there are strange countries far away
where different languages are spoken

there are ants on the doorstep

sometimes dead, sometimes alive
languages that we can use
to say sounding words in different ways
some of those words were borrowed from foreign lands

there are ants on the doorstep

sometimes little ones, sometimes bigger ones
time has its ways
many languages were forgotten
some little ones still exist

there are ants on the doorstep

~ Actually it would be cool to have this song sounding in English, too, someday. Anyone wants to make a proper translation????

half past forever

October 27, 2008 § Leave a comment

it’s half past forever
it’s half past forever
it’s half past forever
it’s half past forever

time is up
i need to go now
paper cup
in my hand is full of air
tell me how
will you remember
that night
that cup of tea
staying up late
and morning light

half past forbidden
memories that last
it’s half past forbidden
to talk about the past

it’s half past forgiven
but not forgotten
it’s half past forgiven

i take your arm
to walk through the misty morning
town’s asleep
after long and stormy night
tell me why
is it so silent
up here
you hold my hands
i feel you close
enough to hear you say

i’m half past forgotten
but not completely
i’m half past forgotten
do you believe me
my love

you’re half past
but not yet over
you’re half past
and getting sober
of love
